Stewart later revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that McKellen’s credentials weren’t valid in Nevada, so the couple had also held a small legal ceremony, again with McKellen, at a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles.

Patrick Stewart’s Death
Sir Patrick Stewart died on October 28, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles, at the age of 86. His family said he died after “a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia,” in “the loving care of his beloved wife Sunny.” The statement described him as surrounded by “live music, prayer, tears, laughter” in his final days.
Stewart is survived by Sunny and by his two children, Daniel and Sophie, from his first marriage to Sheila Falconer. The family asked for donations to Alzheimer’s research and caregiver support in place of flowers.
